After completing our Creative Arts Café project at Allesley Park Community Centre, we’re thinking about what to do next…
Next week we’re meeting with Helen from the Hummingbird Centre to talk about ways we can work together to support people whose lives are affected by cancer.
Please visit our Facebook Page for a short video of our successful Community Arts Café project. Although we started off just after Easter, and it took a while for people to join us, we’ve had a fantastic response to our Summer Holiday sessions, and received some lovely feedback. We’re hoping to work with the local community again in the near future!
HUGE cheer for Becky, who has secured a volunteer placement for September at a local preschool provision. This will enable Becky to continue building her portfolio of qualifications and support her to find paid employment in the near future. We are so pleased to have been able to help you on part of your journey and we wish you well in your new placement (although we’ll want to pinch you back when we do holiday Café projects in the future 😁)
Thank you also to all our visitors today..
Packed out at the Summer Café… please visit our Facebook page for more photos!
Great vibe at the Community Café this afternoon, thanks to everyone who came along – local families, the walking group, the service users from the Wilfred Spencer Resource Base, and our helpers from Grapevine and Adult Education.
We will be open again next week, please come and join us for some fun with Slime!
Painting the clay work and adding glitter…
Our Friday afternoon Café is now closed and we will be re-opening our Summer Community Café on Wednesday 26th July from 12-2pm in the Byrne Room at Allesley Park Community Centre, and running for four weeks. We are still looking for another person to help with the Café on a Wednesday for the four week period, making sandwiches, hot & cold drinks, and serving customers. We will provide you with a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate free of charge! If you’re interested, or know someone who is, message us on our Facebook page, or give Tilly a ring on 07456333948.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Tilly & Claire
Yesterday Claire and I visited the baby hedgehogs at the Hogs Rest Hedgehog Rescue Coventry. Lorna very generously helps us with our DIY tasks, with advice and lending tools. Lorna is also based at Allesley Park Community Centre, and is the person to go to if you find an injured or sick hedgehog in Coventry – follow the link to her page for contact details. Some of the babies are due to be re-released… here are Claire and Tilly the hoglets, who will be leaving the Hogs Rest soon!
When Holly and Belle arrived we made some fairies and fairy houses to put in Allesley Park with the fairy community we visited in the half term Café. Belle has put some in her own garden and kindly shared a picture to our Facebook page.
Don’t forget about our summer Café, running for the first four weeks of the holiday. We’re planning some outdoor art in the park, some upcycled art, some hedgehog art… final programme to confirmed soon!
The Café sign is finished…
Belle enjoyed helping to paint our information board.
Don’t forget our Summer Holiday sessions, leaflets coming out to you soon!
On Friday we got busy making a sign for our Café and organising flyers for our summer sessions.
And we have received another generous donation of useful gear from the guys at YMCA Hire…
Details of our Summer Holiday Community Café… hope you can join us!
